The Cottages at CoffeePot: Assessing Homes for Risk from Wildfire and Recommendations for Mitigation

The Cottages at CoffeePot: Assessing Homes for Risk from Wildfire and Recommendations for Mitigation In-Person

Aaron Casem is the State Fire Prevention Chief, AZ Department of Forestry and Fire Management. He has over 25 years' experience in firefighting and fire prevention. He is responsible for the Firewise Program in Arizona. Firewise is a program developed by the National Fire Protection Association. Its purpose is to teach people how to adapt to live with wildfire and the simple things that homeowners can do with their property to prevent risk from wildfire. The Cottages at Coffeepot is sponsoring the training and is the only neighborhood in Sedona presently to have the Firewise designation. Our action plan is to build understanding and capacity among the homeowners in our neighborhood and adjacent neighborhoods so that we can collectively reduce wildfire risk in the Sedona area. Aaron has worked with us for two years to progressively increase interest and knowledge in wildfire risk reduction among residents.
